Recently, I had a conversation with my friend who his age is 55. We talked about serving God, what we can do and how we can do to serve God.
But he told me that he is too old to serve God. He is in low confident, he told me he is too old for everything. This is what I told him to change his mind which I learnt from a book called “The Noticer”.
I told him:
Colonel Sanders (founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken) didn’t retire when he turned 65. He took a family recipe and began franchising restaurants to serve his fried chicken. And all he had at the time as his Social Security cheques to get started – one hundred and five dollars a month.
Benjamin Franklin didn’t invest bifocals until he was 78.
Winston Churchill was also 78 and finished with more than a couple of careers when he wrote a book that won the Nobel Prize for Literature.
Nelson Mandela was inaugurated president of South Africa for the first time – after years in that country’s prisons – at age of 75.
Igor Stravinsky was still doing concerts when he was 87.
Grandma Moses, the artist, did not sell her first painting until she was 90.
Michelangelo didn’t begin his work on St. Peter’s Basilica – one of the world’s greatest treasures – until he was 72.
Norman Bourlog was 91 when he was informed that he had been personally responsible for saving the loves of two billion people. He was the man who hybridized corn and wheat for arid climates.
I told him as well, until your last breathing, your life purpose has not yet been fulfilled.
There is no too old or too young to serve God. We have to take any opportunity at any time, anywher, any age to serve God.
Shalom Brother, happy to know that you are encouraging your friend to serve God. I believe that many Churches in the world are trying very hard to encourage their congregation to serve God, but very few are responding. Because many of them wants God to serve tham rather than we serve God. Those not responding will have many excuses, unless God zap them as God zap Paul.
Just pray that God will make them realise their purpose in the world (zap them).
For those responded and do God’s purpose, May God’s strength always be on your side.
God bless.
Yes, no matter which church I go, Pastor encourages church members to serve God after preaching. But few only respond.
We are actually too comfortable, we don’t feel other needs in gospel urgently.
Anyway, again we just pray and we ourselves have to start first to become role model.
