The Butterfly Effect by Andy Andrew teaches us that everything we do now, it may affect few decades, few generations, or even few centuries. Every single thing we do matters. It will affect your son, your grandson, your great grandson, etc. The book makes us feel important in everything we do daily, even a tiny job. The book starts with a Colonel called Charmberlain who win the war in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania,1863. If Charmberlain didn’t win the war, today America would be divided into nine to thirteen countries.
Same goes to us today, we may be doing something very unimportant in a church, but when you examine carefully, there is no such things, even a church sweeper is doing something very important. Without a church sweeper, the particular church is dirty, if the church is dirty, there will be no one would like to go to the church, if there is no one would like to go to the church, how can a pastor or missionary save soul, the bring non-Christians to church, to show non-Christians God’s house.
Without a church sweeper, the image of God’s house will be tarnished and spoiled. It is even harder for a pastor or missionary to approach non-Christians.
Next time, when we feel that we do something not important, don’t look at the unimportant job from human perspective, but from God’s perspective and think of the Butterfly Effect, you will notice that you are doing something extraordinary.
