Each time when we pray, we want God to do something for us, we want God to remove our pain, we want God to help us to achieve something, we want God to do this, to do that…
If we pray like that, we actually miss great chances to learn lessons from God. The reason God wants us to suffer and want us to experience difficulties, He wants us to learn how to depends on Him, He wants us to learn lessons from the difficulties.
We should focus on process, not results. But most of the time, our prayers focus on results.
For example, your business fails, you pray to God to do something to save your business, but what you should pray is what make your business fails. It is because your communication skills or it is because you don’t know how to management skills. If you pray to God to help you in your business, you miss a great chance to grow, to know the root problems. Instead, you should pray to God what lesson you should learn from Him.
Another example. Your relationship fails, you pray to God to save your relationship. But God wants you to learn how to put strong faith to God, how to live and depends on Him. Or, He wants you to learn how to work hard to build and maintain a relationship. Again, if your prayer goes for results, you can’t learn anything and you won’t grow up. Instead, you should pray to God to learn a lesson, to grow up.
This is how our prayers should go when we have difficulties, focus on process, not results.
